Accusations and allegations lead to resignations, and impunity as standard practice in the social justice sector (LRC, EE and now CALS) and also the public sector (SABC) – with no real discussions on the individual, institutional or structural factors that are both causes and consequences of violations that are being experienced. In my view, a report should serve as a catalyst for creating a responsive space for discussions in EE and the wider social justice sector, which could possibly create an enabling environment for victims to be more willing to come forward. Considering the pervasiveness of violence against women in this country, we need to contribute in some small way to change processes.

I don’t think that would be a very reliable solution. Often nurses have to futz with them to get them positioned to get a reading. I wouldn’t trust one to stay in position overnight.
