181. I am mindful that hindsight usually offers twenty-twenty vision. This Enquiry is looking at evolving events and actions and people as they all emerged in bits and pieces in 2011 but we are now viewing this series of events and actions from a more holistic viewpoint and a 2018 perspective. It is thus important that we be mindful of our advantages in 2018 but that the issues of and regarding 2011 are scrutinized both from the perspective of that time and as they may still fester today.

This suspicion continues amongst the legatees of the Hindu Mahasabha, in their mistrust of the Indian Constitution, for it is this document borrowed from Western ideals, they believe, that obstructs the idea of the Hindu Rashtra. In today’s India, as a result, the most liberal document that we have, the Constitution, is at risk.

The working electrode is where the action happens. Typically made of platinum, the working electrode sits just behind a watertight but gas permeable membrane. Air enters the cell and contacts the electrode. The platinum oxidizes any carbon monoxide, causing an imbalance in the cell. The counter electrode is a place where electrons are added or removed to “counter” the reactions occurring at the working electrode. If present, the reference electrode is isolated from the carbon monoxide, and provides a reference to the potential of the electrolyte. It is often omitted from modern detector designs. Nowadays, the counter electrode does double duty – acting as a measurement point and balance input to the cell. Every cell is different, which is why most manufacturers test each cell, even printing the mA per PPM value right on the cell case.

These results led us to ask whether tumor hybrids gain selective advantages in different microenvironments that may reflect primary tumor or metastatic sites. To directly test distinct microenvironmental interactions, we evaluated adhesion phenotypes and cytokine-dependent growth responsiveness of MC38-derived fusion hybrids versus unfused tumor cells using a microenvironment microarray (MEMA) platform (25). This high-throughput assay specifically measures cellular behavior in distinct engineered microenvironments containing variable extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules, growth factors, and chemokines, spotted combinatorially in rows and columns, thus permitting comparison of adhesion phenotypes among unfused cancer cells, MФs, and hybrids. Analysis of microenvironment-specific adhesion revealed that MC38 cells harbor distinct growth factor–independent adhesive preferences for select ECM molecules, most notably, fibronectin (fig. S3C). MФs, by contrast, exhibited enhanced adhesion to collagen XXIII, vitronection (the ECM component), and more uniform adhesion across all MEMA conditions relative to unfused cancer cells (fig. S3C). Fusion hybrids exhibited a combination of adhesion biases, reflecting properties of both parental cells, potentially providing a broader adhesive affinity in different microenvironments. Further analysis, using hierarchical clustering, distinguished hybrids from unfused cancer cells with respect to adhesion on independent microenvironments (fig. S3C).

Think about how a rock can skip across the top of the water. The surface tension keeps it from penetrating. Now imagine that tension working in reverse.
