“We applaud the FDA’s approval of ULTOMIRIS. It is important news for patients with PNH and their families,” said Neil Horikoshi, Chief Executive Officer of the Aplastic Anemia and Myelodysplastic Syndrome (AAMDS) International Foundation. “The introduction of SOLIRIS (eculizumab) eleven years ago transformed the lives of patients with PNH. But the management of this debilitating disease still requires strength and sacrifice from patients and their families. With ULTOMIRIS, patients no longer have to plan their lives around bi-weekly infusions and can look forward to just six or seven infusions a year.”

By the early 1960s, the array of objects he was veiling into fragility and apparent transience had broadened (furniture, wheeled vehicles, mechanical apparatuses, even live women were now packed in semitransparent layers of plastic), and Christo was beginning to take on objects of much larger, even architectural, proportions. In connection with his first solo show, in the Galerie Haro Lauhus in Cologne in 1961, he wrapped several stacks of massive paper rolls and some large containers on the local waterfront in tarpaulin and rope. His next idea for a “temporary monument” foreshadowed the animated controversy that would become synonymous with Christo projects: For three hours on a June evening in 1962, about the time of the first anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall, he built an “iron curtain” of 204 oil drums that completely blocked the Rue Visconti, one of the oldest and narrowest streets in Paris, leaving the neighborhood loudly incensed.

Despite acquiring MФ gene expression profiles, MФ–cancer cell fusion hybrids initially retained in vitro proliferative capacity similar to unfused neoplastic cells, as opposed to MФs (fig. S3B). However, with prolonged culture, that is, past confluence, unfused neoplastic cells pile on themselves, forming cellular aggregates, whereas MФ–cancer cell fusion hybrids remained sheet-like with mesenchymal histologic features, indicating an acquired contact inhibition (fig. S3B and movie S2). These data indicate that, although hybrids have similar division rates, they gain differential growth properties as compared to unfused cancer cells. To determine whether these in vitro differences were recapitulated when cells were grown in vivo, in vitro–derived hybrids from MC38 or B16F10 cells were respectively injected subcutaneously into the flank or intradermally into syngeneic immunocompetent mice. Hybrids retained tumorigenic potential, with MC38 hybrids displaying shorter doubling times as compared to unfused parental cancer cells [data from two hybrid clones and two unfused cancer cell clones (Fig. 2A); B16F10 not shown], indicating that hybrids gain growth advantage in an in vivo microenvironment.

4. Was there any EE connection between you and a girl called ‘TP’? Did anything happen between you that may have affected the development of this?

It is my view that it would have been most inappropriate of Achmat, Chairperson of Equal Education, who had handed investigation of this matter over to the Human Resources Subcommittee to have been tendering or evidence or information or guidance to the very committee entrusted with such an issue. It matters little whether or no this information could ever have been useful. It matters little whether or no this information would have assisted any person who might be giving consideration to a complaint regarding sexting. Achmat might have been intruding upon the merits of a process in which as Chair of the Board he should have played no part, in which he purported to play no part and where his position as Chair of Equal Education should have truly resulted in his recusal from any discussions leading to any findings of this hearing. This was, after all, a preliminary investigation to determine whether or not disciplinary proceedings should follow in accordance with the Code.
