The complexity of this situation stems from the fact that as the Coordinator of Equal Education Doron makes connections all the time with people wanting to work with EE in various capacities. This correspondence takes place by email. Doron holds the strings in regard to who falls into a personal category, who falls into a professional one and who not ever become[s] associated with EE.

There is no clarity yet whether in Uttar Pradesh there would be an all-encompassing Mahagathbandhan-style anti-BJP front or the Congress would eventually be kept out. In recent weeks it has been argued that Mr Modi would benefit by all parties joining forces in the most populous state because it can tap on reverse polarisation. There also the argument that the Congress on its own would cut into upper caste votes, which normally has been the BJP’s preserve in recent years. However, any division in the anti-BJP vote in Uttar Pradesh would send a negative message to voters in other states as it would give strength to the BJP’s argument that if voters do not return it to office, they would Equally important is the success or failure of the emerging BJP strategy. It is evident that the party is going to project the achievements of this government as the secondary facet of its electoral campaign. The primary facet of the party’s plank, it is more or less evident now, would consist of three issues — the Ram temple, other Hindutva campaigns with the ultra-nationalist theme interwoven, and third, a Modi-centric theme, with voters being asked if they wanted him back as PM, or not!
3. AD TERMS OF REFERENCE 12.1.3: INVESTIGATION WHETHER ISAACS OR ANY OTHER MEMBER, EMPLOYEE OR OFFICE BEARER, INCLUDING ZACKIE ACHMAT, SILENCED OR INTIMIDATED ANY POTENTIAL COMPLAINANTS AGAINST ISAACS:
312. None of these named women were staff members or current volunteers or current interns at Equal Education. Two had been connected with EE in the past – ‘KK’ and ‘KS’. The Terms of Reference first required that the Human Resources Subcommittee receive evidence from those persons “spreading the rumours” whether or not there was an EE connection with any of the women named. Yet neither of ‘KR’ or ‘KS’ or any of the other persons included in emails about “rumours” and who received copies of the Human Resources Subcommittee Report and responded thereto in a manner which indicated they were party to the “rumours” ever came forward with anything approaching prima facie evidence as to any such connection. There was no evidence received because the supposed sources of “rumours” did not come forward.
In his new book, How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them, Yale University philosophy professor Jason Stanley identifies 10 characteristics that define fascist political movements. For example: “Fascism always promises to return us to a mythic past.” Similarly, fascist politicians use propaganda, for example, about anti-corruption campaigns, even when they are transparently corrupt. Another aspect is anti-intellectualism, for the “enemy of fascism is equality,” and the target of such anti-intellectual campaigns are places of learning, like universities. How can the educated elite know anything about anything, the fascist believes. Only the mythical “common man” can know what is right; note the emphasis on “man”, which includes no women, or racial and sexual minorities. The similarities do not end there. Unlike liberal democracies, based on freedom and equality, fascist regimes posit the dominant group’s interests as the ultimate, unquestionable truth. The dominant group is also always the victim of the situation. They rely on conspiracy theories to justify calls to power. And most tellingly, fascist politicians promise a law and order regime designed not to seek out offenders, but to criminalise outliers, who are usually ethnic, religious or sexual minorities. Professor Stanley has the U.S. in mind, but surely there is some resonance closer home.
Cerebrospinal fluid tau is an established Alzheimer’s disease biomarker, but efforts to develop a blood test for tau have been hampered by exceedingly low concentrations of the protein there. At least, until now, claims a paper published in Alzheimer’s and Dementia on November 9. Using a highly sensitive detection platform combined with antibodies trained to the N-terminus of tau, researchers led by Dominic Walsh at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston developed a plasma tau test that accurately distinguished between AD cases and controls. The findings point to distinct forms of tau in the brain versus blood, and suggest that the minimally invasive blood test could prove useful for diagnosis and screening in clinical studies.
As an interesting side note: Being an electronics nut, I did a tear down on an out-of-date detector and was pleasantly surprised to find an off-the-shelf PIC micro running the show.
Serious adverse reactions occurred in 32% of patients; the most frequent were pneumonia, dyspnea, pyrexia, mental status changes, and respiratory failure. Fatal adverse reactions occurred in 2.7% of patients and included pneumonia, myocardial infarction, acute pulmonary edema, embolism, peripheral artery occlusion, and respiratory distress.
In situ analyses of human peripheral blood analyses. Patient peripheral blood was collected in heparinized Vacutainer tubes (BD Biosciences), and then, lymphocytes and peripheral mononuclear cells were isolated using density centrifugation and LeucoSep Centrifuge Tubes (Greiner Bio-One) according to the manufacturer’s protocol. Cells were then prepared for antibody staining. Briefly, cells were adhered to poly-d-lysine–coated slides, fixed, and permeabilized before staining for CD45 and cytokeratin expression using antibodies to CD45 (eBioscience) and human pan-cytokeratin (Fitzgerald). Phenotypes of CHCs were evaluated with additional antibody staining, including to CD66b (BD Pharmingen), CD68 (Abcam), CD163 (Neomarkers), CSF1R (Abcam), and EPCAM (1:200; US Biological). Tissue was developed with appropriate fluorescent-conjugated secondary antibodies [anti-mouse Cy3 (Jackson ImmunoResearch), goat anti-guinea pig 488 (Invitrogen), goat anti-guinea pig 555 (Invitrogen), anti-rabbit A647 (1:500; Thermo Fisher Scientific), and anti-mouse Cy5 (1:500; Jackson ImmunoResearch)] and then was stained with Hoechst (1 μg/ml). Slides were digitally scanned with a Leica DM6000 B microscope or a Zeiss AxioObserverZ1 microscope and analyzed using Ariol or Zeiss Zenblue software.
According to the CGA data, the total expenditure of the government at November-end was Rs 16.13 lakh crore or 66.1 percent of BE. The expenditure in terms of percentage of BE was higher in the year-ago period.
